Does fake news matter?

50%

Yes - fake news can have real consequences.

50%

Maybe - but we can learn how to spot it and social media sites have taken special measures.

50%

No - there's so many other things more likely to influence someone's behaviour.

50%

It depends - it's important to work out whether it's being used as a label to intimidate others, or highlight false claims.

Fake news is also exaggerated news as seen during the Brexit referendum which was heavily fuelled by xenophobic rhetoric.

Fake news absolutely has real consequences. Especially because statistics show that even after they are debunked, they remain believed.

Fake news can have consequences, that's why when there is a volcano warning which is fake it affects loads of people in the surrounding area

People who spread fake news are equally at fault as those who create fake news. It is our responsibility to determine credibility of news.

The more social media appears then the more it influences the population. And social media is full of sick (bad) people.

The more fake news happens and appears, the more misinformed the population becomes. It effects the elections it's just not right.

I think that if social media sites did more to stop fake news from leaking out, it might not matter so much.

It matters because people believe what they read and don't question what is around them. Maybe I'd spot it, but I wouldn't know if I hadn't.

I'd like to think that I'm smart enough to spot fake news but I guess I can't always know...
