Should you believe|the history books?

50%

I think all history books are completely factual and should be trusted.

50%

It depends who’s written the books and why - only some can be trusted.

50%

I believe all first person accounts of history, but nothing else.

50%

It depends what you mean by ‘believe’ - there’s no right or wrong, just different perspectives.

No historical interpretation should be "trusted" - they can provide valuable insights, but should always be approached critically.

Everything should be doubted. We cannot know absolute truth. A frank historian might be obliged polictically to ”change” history

I think that reading other people's opinions through both primary and secondary texts is just a way to help formulate our own opinions

But we should not necessarily accept everything being stated in respective recounts of events. Which is why studying history is so crucial

Gaining an understanding of different perspectives is fundamental to our understanding of history, which is why we should read history books

Many perspectives put together often form a fuller picture, but often victors or a favoured perspective are exaggerated over others.

I think history is partly a lie and we shouldnt just rely on books to tell us abt the past but think for ourselves about what makes sense :)

I think that we should not believe in history books as there is not that much evidence that is about someone/something

Either way History still gives us facts even if we know the facts are lies. Lying can give historians a more in depth view of society.

People are allowed their own opinions, but how do we know what's the truth and what someone's made up?
