Accidental Death in Tudor England
Professor Steven Gunn (University of Oxford) gives a short talk on his research - with Dr Tomasz Gromelski - that looks at around 9000 coroner's records from the 16th century and the way people met their end. Previous studies have looked at murder and suicide rates but Prof. Gunn and his team have been more interested in the kind of fatal accidents of the time. This is because this information says a bit more about what people were doing and the dangers they faced.
